Lead Times

The truth is, good furniture takes time.

Every Relic Modern™  piece is built by me, start to finish, in my Minneapolis studio — no warehouse, no assembly line. I select and mill the lumber, join, sand, and finish each piece by hand. That care takes time, but it's also why the wait exists: it's the difference between something pulled off a shelf and something built for you, by hand, meant to last generations.

End Table No. 2

More information

About this Piece

A sculptural end table that pairs layered Baltic birch with a walnut or maple face in a reduced mid-century silhouette. The curved form hugs the side of a sofa or chair, and the two-tier open shelving keeps a book, a drink, or a small stack of objects within reach without adding visual weight. Available in 18" or 22" deep. At 24" high, the piece also works as a nightstand in a compact bedroom.

This curved end table is a study in reduction. Built by Relic Modern™ from 13-layer Baltic birch with a walnut or maple face, the layered edges are left exposed as a signature detail. The rounded form softens the corner of a room and reads light rather than heavy.

Pairs naturally with the Cocktail Table or the Coffee Table in the same room.

Finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax blend, the piece has a warm, tactile matte look that enhances the natural grain of the walnut or maple.

Materials

Built from 13-layer solid wood Baltic birch with a walnut or maple face — a stable, sustainable core that doesn't move with the seasons the way solid wood can. The layered Baltic birch edges are left exposed as a signature detail and a nod to the designers of the mid-century era.

Product FAQ

(01) How long until the piece ships? This piece is handmade to order in Minneapolis. Current lead time is listed in the box above the Add to Cart button. See Shipping, Pickup & Returns for details.

(02) Will the wood color change over time? Yes. The walnut face will deepen and take on warmer, reddish tones over the first year or two, and the maple face will warm into a deeper honey color — both are natural characteristics of the species and part of what makes the piece feel alive. The hand-rubbed oil and wax finish supports this patina rather than sealing it off.

(03) How do I care for this piece? Use coasters, wipe up spills, and keep rough objects off the surface. A damp cloth is all that's needed for cleaning — no furniture polishes. The piece can be refreshed with a bit of furniture wax when it feels dry. Additional details are on the FAQ page.

(04) Can I see a wood sample before ordering? Yes. A wood sample of the Baltic birch with the chosen face — walnut or maple — and the oil and wax finish is available through the shop.

(05) Does this piece require assembly? No. It ships fully assembled.

(06) Can this piece be customized? Some customizations may be possible. Reach out before ordering.

(07) Can I see this piece in person? Yes. End Table No. 2 is on display at the Minneapolis showroom, alongside the full furniture collection. See showroom hours or book an appointment.

Real Furniture,Made by Real Hands

I build every piece by hand in my Minneapolis workshop — one maker, one standard, no shortcuts. Mid-century modern isn't a trend — it's a discipline. Clean lines, reasonable proportions, and modest, organic shapes. At Relic Modern™, that means stripping every design down to its essential form and building it from high-quality Baltic birch with walnut or maple faces, finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax blend that lets the wood speak for itself.
