Lead Times

The truth is, good furniture takes time.

Every Relic Modern™  piece is built by me, start to finish, in my Minneapolis studio — no warehouse, no assembly line. I select and mill the lumber, join, sand, and finish each piece by hand. That care takes time, but it's also why the wait exists: it's the difference between something pulled off a shelf and something built for you, by hand, meant to last generations.

Relic Modern Store Reviews

Media Console No. 2

More information

About this Piece

A refined take on the Relic Modern™ design language, with sliding doors that travel in front of the drawer faces, dovetailed drawers, and solid walnut legs. Suited to a living room, media room, den, family room, great room, dining room, office, or entryway — or anywhere a credenza or sideboard belongs. The Baltic birch layers remain visible at the door and drawer edges as a signature detail and a nod to the designers of the mid-century era.

The design idea on No. 2 is the sliding doors: they travel in front of the drawer faces, concealing them when closed and revealing them when open, and the square cutouts on the doors serve as handles while adding rhythm to the front. Clean lines are softened by the exposed Baltic birch layers at the door and drawer edges, and the solid walnut legs with beveled detail give the piece architectural support.

An adjustable shelf behind each sliding door provides flexible storage, and three drawers — two shallower drawers above a deeper one — sit centered behind the doors. Drawers are crafted from solid maple with traditional dovetail joinery and Blum® soft-close under-mount slides.

If a different storage proportion suits the room better, the Sideboard offers a taller, fuller form, and Media Console No. 1 carries the same media-console footprint with slatted sliding doors and angled laminated legs.

Finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax blend, the piece has a matte, warm look that enhances the natural grain of the walnut.

Product FAQ

(01) How long until the piece ships? This piece is handmade to order in Minneapolis. Current lead time is listed in the box above the Add to Cart button. See Shipping, Pickup & Returns for details.

(02) Will the wood color change over time? Yes. The walnut face will deepen and take on warmer, reddish tones over the first year or two — a natural characteristic of the species and part of what makes the piece feel alive. The hand-rubbed oil and wax finish supports this patina rather than sealing it off.

(03) How do I care for this piece? Use coasters, wipe up spills, and keep rough objects off the surface. A damp cloth is all that's needed for cleaning — no furniture polishes. The piece can be refreshed with a bit of furniture wax when it feels dry. Additional details are on the FAQ page.

(04) Can I see a wood sample before ordering? Yes. A wood sample of the Baltic birch with the chosen face — walnut — and the oil and wax finish is available through the shop.

(05) Does this require assembly? No. The piece arrives fully assembled and ready to use.

(06) Can I see this piece in person? Yes. The Media Console No. 2 is on display at the Minneapolis showroom, alongside the full furniture collection. See showroom hours or book an appointment.
