About this Piece
The Clock is a statement made through restraint — a substantial walnut face with off-center hands and softly curved corners. A gentle round-over lets the face transition into the layered Baltic birch sides without a hard edge anywhere on the form. Glossy white metal hands sit against the rich matte walnut, driven by a silent movement with no ticking. A repositionable inset hanger gives four hanging orientations — vertical with hands at top or bottom, horizontal with hands at left or right — so the piece works on whichever wall it lands on. Quiet on a busy wall, sculptural on a bare one.
The body is 1¼" Baltic birch with 24 layers at the edge and a recess on the back, so the mounting hardware sits inside the body and the piece hangs flush against the wall. The silent quartz movement keeps the piece quiet in bedrooms, nurseries, and offices — no second-hand tick, no audible mechanism.
At home in a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, office, den, or entryway. Pairs naturally with the Edge of the Horizon and The Dot wall art pieces.
Finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax blend, the piece has a matte, warm look that enhances the natural grain of the walnut.

Real Furniture,Made by Real Hands
I build every piece by hand in my Minneapolis workshop — one maker, one standard, no shortcuts. While big-box stores fill warehouses with particle board and mass-produced templates, Relic Modern™ starts with real, high-quality wood and ends with something built to last. Some things are worth buying from a real person.
Mid-century modern isn't a trend — it's a discipline. Clean lines, reasonable proportions, and modest, organic shapes. At Relic Modern™, that means stripping every design down to its essential form and building it from high-quality Baltic birch with walnut or maple faces, finished with a hand-rubbed oil and wax blend that lets the wood speak for itself.
